The current Holy Trinity Anglican Church building in Surry Hills was completed in 1922, but the parish has served the community since 1883. The team at AA Turner Builders were thrilled to be engaged to redevelop the complex in 2006.
The brief included the linking of the buildings together to facilitate ease of movement between the church itself and the church hall. New modern offices and a meeting room and an upgrade to the kitchen were also required.
Because it was extremely important to the congregation that the period look and feel of the church building be reattained, we sourced special bricks that matched the existing brickwork.
The church community was delighted with the finished product, stating that the renovation had not succeeded in attractively blending the old with the new, but the glass walkway provides a suggestion of openness to the community.
The refurbishment was designed by John Reid of Woodhead International.
“With the redevelopment of Holy Trinity Church virtually completed for some months, we have had the opportunity of not only seeing how the new complex works but enjoying the new facilities.
The Parish as a whole is happy in extreme and this is crucial to all who were involved in bringing the project to a conclusion.
We thank you personally for the very important role you played in spite of a number of unforseen difficulties which were overcome in a spirit of co-operation. We enjoyed working with you and look forward with confidence that these buildings serving the Parish and community for many years to come.”
